about

poem by Brian Routh

lyrics

I was asleep

the birds came

they sang to me

to wake me from my dream

they sang a song from you

it sang into my heart

my love

you are in the depths of me

the birds watch me

their eyes filled with tears

they know the joy

that is in my heart

the blackbird sings

his mournful lament

he watches me

he knows what is in my heart

his melody haunts me

it carries me off

to a canyon of dreams

where your echoes call to me

it is the half light before dawn

the dawn chorus

explodes through my head

it stirs my soul

everywhere I look

you are there

your hand is in mine

always

your lips touch mine

always

your beauty and spirit

fill me

whispers from my soul

sing to you

your laughter like bells

rings inside of me

the nightingale

sings your song of longing

your song of great love

I am deeply moved

by your passion

by your spirit

your blood flows into my veins

you are here inside of me

together we sigh

a sigh that says it all

my love I am yours

forever
